Winter Solstice Flower Circle

  • Prema Yoga 976 Fulton Street Brooklyn, NY, 11238 United States (map)

As the light outside wanes in the northern hemisphere, the hearth is warmed and we tend to our inner light. While modern life can pull us further away from natural order, the quarter days (solstices and equinoxes) encourage a greater connection to the wheel of the year and seasonal transitions. In Northern European Indigenous traditions, plants of wintertime were often evergreen, signifying eternality and protection. Plant allies during this time served both ceremonial and practical purposes, e.g., burning cedar root in the house for protection, and drinking pine needle tea for immune health.

Flower essences are a type of plant spirit medicine that facilitate healing, connection, integration, and balance. They are safe and gentle yet powerful shifters of consciousness, and this circle will highlight several essences and plants that correspond to the energetics of winter and the solstice. Each participant will leave with a custom flower blend to help guide them through the winter solstice and holiday season. We will connect with the flowers through a candlelit guided plant spirit ritual and meditation.
